The Carlisle and District Vintage Society already holds its Annual Rally in the grounds of Lough Farm. The show in 2005 was a huge success, why not take a look at some of the pictures in the Gallery to see for yourself, some of the exhibits at the Show?
With the farm being just 1 mile along the Dalston Road off junction 42 of the M6, its wide entrance, hard standing and accessibility, it makes an ideal venue for these types of vintage vehicle shows. Lough Farm of course, also has catering facilities for crowd attendance, plus it can offer show organisers, public address systems and commentary boxes etc. as required.
If you are a budding enthusiast, click on the links given below to look at the Carlisle and District Vintage Society pages, who are steam enthusiasts, plus the pages of the Wigton Motor Car Club, who are classic car buffs; both local clubs to Cumbria.
Given below you will also find links to some extremely interesting and informative pages from the National Traction Engine Trust. Formed in 1954 the Trust currently has over 4,000 steam driven members all over the world; actually you don't have to own a steam engine to join! It is affiliated to the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs, the Road Locomotive Society and the Road Roller Association. Its aims encompass supporting ownership and preservation of steam powered equipment including records of history, ownership, manufacturing, design etc. The Trust also aims to maintain standards in operation and management of same, including training in basic skills to set and monitor safety; to bring to attention of those concerned changes in legislation. It also seeks for the benefit of its members, to use its buying power for insurance and other such services. On top of just these things mentioned it also administers the worldwide club and sells books, video etc., promoting its cause. The NTET runs an apprentice club for the under 21's.
There are also some links for Classic Car enthusiasts, or those who may wish to join an owners club, or purchase a classic car so that they can take part in this fascinating way of life. It really is great fun to be able to get together with like-minded people and enjoy some great days out.
